Who Are You?
It is by now second-nature to you to lead meaningful kids activities safely and smoothly for a range of ages and personality types, and you are highly experienced in leading groups of school-age children (a minimum of 2 years full-time or equivalent). You can organize and coach a small team of counselors to run an after-school program, and you always use respectful, clear and constructive communication with children, their families, and your colleagues. You have a deep interest in child development (a BA or extensive experience with school-age children), and you are open to learn new perspectives and approaches.
You can both make your own plans and follow plans made by others, and you can get creative and improvise as necessary in response to unexpected situations. You have team management experience and are solidly grounded in yourself as a confident, approachable and responsive leader who knows that playing team and being an example is one of the best ways to lead. You are able to let loose and be genuinely playful and imaginative like a child, while holding full accountability and commitment as an adult. Your positivity is sincere, and on days you’re not feeling it (we all have those days), you have the self-awareness and emotional fluency to self-regulate, communicate constructively, and be in authentic service to those around you.
Pluses include being an artsy-and-craftsy, bilingual (Spanish/English) nature lover with a Waldorf or Montessori background and the ability to make any activity a fun experience!
What Can You Expect From Us?
We take our fun very seriously, committed to the idea that how we guide children helps reshape the future of humanity. If young humans are taught and encouraged to treat each other with love and respect, and to care for nature as much as nature provides for us, all while they enjoy life and explore their creativity, then just imagine the adults they might become. You get to be a part of a team that does that, and come to work every day with people who treat each other well and love to have fun in so many different ways. We play, we are joyful, and in this job, we sometimes even get to become children ourselves. We hold a safe, respectful and committed space for children and staff to be themselves as individuals while also taking care of the whole.
